Alan Alexander Milne was born in Hampstead, London on 18th January 1882. His parents John Vine and Sarah Maria Milne, both worked as school teachers. Alan had two older brothers named Ken and Barry. He became editor of of "Granta" an undergraduate magazine, and in 1906 aged only 24 he became assistant editor of "Punch" a satirical magazine. Alan married Daphne de Selincourt on June 24th 1913. With the start of the war in 1914 Milne was commissioned to the Warwickshire regiment. While serving in France he developed trench fever and was sent home. Milne spent his time writing plays and still contributed to "Punch". His first big success came 1920 with his play "Mr Pim Passes By" Biography of Alan Alexander Milne (1882-1956)

Christopher was studying at Cambridge when the second world war started, and he left to join the army. Christopher was wounded in the head during battle but he luckily made a good recovery. He served his country right up to the end of the war in 1945. Adorable son Christopher Robin Christopher Robin Milne was born in Chelsea, London, England, on the 21st August 1920. Pooh joined him about a year later, shortly followed by Eeyore . Piglet was a gift from a neighbour, who frequently saw him out walking with his Nanny. Owl and Rabbit were not real toys, but were invented for the stories. Later Kanga , Roo , and Tigger bounced into the Milne home. Christopher Robin was known to his family as "Billy Moon" the "Moon" part being the young boys mispronunciation of his surname.

A.A. Milne started to write a series of books about Winnie the Pooh , his son Christopher Robin , and their friends at 100-Aker-Wood. These other characters, such as Eeyore, Piglet, Tigger, Kanga and Roo were also based on stuffed animals belonging to Christopher Robin. Other characters as Rabbit and Owl were based on animals that lived, just like the swan Pooh, in the surrounding area of Milne's country home Cotchford Farm in Ashdown Forest, Sussex, on which 100-Aker-wood was based. Book "Winnie The Pooh" . All these books were illustrated in a beautiful way by E.H. Shepard , which made the books even more magical. The Pooh-books became firm favourites with old and young alike and have been translated into almost every known language.

The Pooh-books had also been favourites of Walt Disney's daughters and it inspired Disney to bring Pooh to film in 1966. In 1977 'the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh', the first feature-length animated film of Pooh was released. In 1993, the Walt Disney Company acknowledged that Pooh Bear is second only to Mickey Mouse in their portfolio of the most-loved and trusted characters known to millions of people all the world over. By 1996, after the second release of 'the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh', the Bear of Very Little Brain had proved to be more popular than any other Disney character. In 1997, thirty years after the release of 'the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh', Disney released 'Pooh's Grand Adventure', picking up where Disney's 22nd Masterpiece left off.
