I. Организационный момент

Сообщение целей, задач и плана работы на уроке.

Teacher:Good morning children! I’m glad to see you!

Teacher:  Sit down, everybody. How are you?

Today, we are having unusual lesson. What’s the date today? What season is it? What is the weather like in spring? Do you like spring?

CHRISTMAS IN GREAT BRITAIN

5 класс

Цель: коммуникативно – речевое развитие учащихся через обобщение знаний о традициях празднования Рождества в Великобритании.

Задачи :

 1) обобщить грамматический и лексический материал;

2) обучать устному высказыванию по теме Christmas in Britain;

3) систематезировать страноведческий материал о Великобритании.

Оснащение : рисунок Рождественской Ели на доске и набор карточек – игрушек с заданиями, карточки – задания для групповой работы ; аудиозапись песни “Jingle Bells”.

ХОД УРОКА

1. Организационный момент.

Hello boys and girls ! it’s great to see you again ! Today we are going to speak about Christmas traditions in Great Britain. We’ll work in groups!

2. Основной этап урока.

Teacher ( T. ) : Let’s begin our game. Do you want to start the Christmas game?

Pupils ( P.) : We do.

T. : I think we’ll choose the group to start the game. Your task is to say the tongue – twister as quickly and as well as you can. Your tongue – twister:

And of thick things too.

T.: Thank you. The group that has won can start our Christmas - game. Look at the blackboard: this is our Christmas – tree. But it is not decorated yet. And these are our toys with the tasks. Take the first toy and read the task for everyone.

T.: Your task is to congratulate everyone with the coming holiday! It was your homework! Let’s listen to your poems!

Good morning! How are you? Today we’ll have a special lesson! It’s devoted to one holiday that is coming soon in Great Britain and America! What is it?

It’s Christmas! It reminds us of birth of Jesus Christ, of Bethlehem star and three shepherds. They came to Mary, Joseph and a baby Jesus and brought them their gifts, or presents. Since then we celebrate Christmas, have a lot of fun, give and get presents.

Also, we’ll speak about Christmas, decorations, Christmas traditional food. You’ll listen to the tape, watch video, sing a song and make a Christmas postcard.

Look at our fir-tree! It’s very nice, isn’t it? But it has no toys. Let’s decorate it right now! Please, come to the blackboard, take any picture you like, name it and hang on the Christmas tree.

Oh, look at our Christmas tree! How beautiful it is now! It’s time to set the table. You’ll read about some popular Christmas dishes.

Christmas dinner is a meal traditionally eaten on Christmas Eve. The main dinner dish is usually roast turkey, roast potatoes and vegetables.  

There is a special Turkey dinner tradition when people take a wishing bone. This is a bone in a shape of a letter “Y”. Two people pull it from both sides until it breaks into two parts. The person who has the larger part makes a wish.

The dessert of a British Christmas Dinner is often a Christmas Pudding. They usually put a coin in the pudding and decorate it with cream. The English also have mince pies for Christmas. They think that it’s good luck to eat a mince pie every day in December. Though it brings luck many people start hating this tradition by the end of December!

Christmas crackers are also part of a tradition. They are placed on each plate and people crack it at the beginning of Christmas dinner. There is often a wish, a small gift or a joke. There are some “crackers’” jokes:

Our Christmas table is full of different dishes. We are ready to celebrate this wonderful holiday. Now let’s watch a cartoon “Donald’s Gift”. Donald Duck doesn’t like Christmas. He wants to stay home and drink hot chocolate. Tell me, please, how the British celebrate Christmas.

Will you answer my questions!

How do the animals celebrate Christmas? (They sing carols, go shopping and buy a lot of presents).

What are houses and streets decorated with? (They are decorated with toys, lights. Everybody is happy, but Donald is sad).

Why is Donald sad? (He doesn’t like Christmas. He wants to listen to the radio and drink his chocolate).

Did you like the cartoon?

What song do all the animals sing in the cartoon? Do you like the song?

It’s “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.

I. Организационный момент и приветствие.

Good afternoon, children! Glad to see you again. I hope you are fine.

Today we have the final lesson on the topic “So many countries, so many customs”. You’ll work in groups and you’ll get a “star” for the each right answer.

We’ve got two teams and you can see their names on the blackboard!

II. Лексико-фонетическая разминка.

Учитель: By the way, children, what’s the Russian for:

“So many countries, so many customs”

Ответы учащихся:

Учитель: What’s the Russian for “country”?

Учащиеся: страна, сельская местность.

Учитель: And now, children, we are having phonetic work. Please, open your English books (p. 76 ex. 19). Here you can see the poem “A question” by Edith Segal.

First, listen to the tape-recorder carefully, then say in chorus after the speaker line by line.

Учитель: Well done! In this poem you can see a question “Where would you rather live?” What does it mean?

Учащиеся: It means: “Would you live in the city or in the village?”

Учитель: Thank you, children all of you are great. Now let’s try to solve the puzzle. Have a look at the blackboard, please. Name all the words in the pictures, take only the first letter of each word and you will read the next thing we are going to discuss. For example, a hat – letter ‘h’ …..

Let’s talk about holidays celebrated in Russia, in America and in Britain.

Captains, go to my table and get cards for your teams. There are the names of some holidays in the boxes. Look at the blackboard! Here you can see the names of the countries. (Russia, the USA, Great Britain)

Your task is to put these holidays to the country where they are celebrated! You should pronounce the words correctly! The quickest team wins!

  3. It’s a big festival in the USA and Canada to celebrate the harvest. The special foods on the table are a turkey, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. (Thanksgiving Day) What country celebrates this holiday?
  4. This holiday is celebrated in February. On this day people usually send cards to those whom they love. They make them in the form of hearts. (St Valentine’s Day) Do we celebrate it in this country?
  5. People decorate the houses with bright lights and ornaments. They exchange postcards and gifts. Children like this holiday very much, because they always find presents early in the morning. (Christmas) when is it celebrated in Great Britain?
  6. The traditional colours of this holiday are orange, black and yellow. Children dress up in costumes of skeletons, goblins, black cats and spiders. There are many jack-o-lanterns in the streets when it is dark. (Halloween) When do people celebrate it?

1)Приветствие учителя.
 Good morning, girls and boys! Nice to meet you! Take your sits! Today we’re going to have unusual lesson.
Today we will work at the blackboard, watch the video, learn some new information about London, sing songs and work in groups.

And now I’ve prepared a shit of papers for, Let’s  revise our knowledge about the places of interests and do some test.

 Now change with your shits of paper and your neighbor should check.
