НМ: - Good afternoon, dear students, teachers and our guests. We are very glad to see you here, in our “Poetic Room”. It has become our tradition to organize our afternoon party for those students who like reciting poems in different foreign languages.

Анна Сергеевна Плавник выводит на экран фразы о поэзии:

АС: - What is poetry? We have found some interesting quotations about poetry. Look at the screen.

(На экране цитаты о поэзии, ведущие по очереди озвучивают их).

АС: - “A poet is, before anything else, a person who is passionately in love with language. ~ W. H. Auden

НМ: - “Poetry might be defined as the clear expression of mixed feelings. ~W.H. Auden

АС: - “The world is full of poetry. The air is living with its spirit; and the waves dance to the music of its melodies, and sparkle in its brightness.” ~ James Gates Percival

НМ: - Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words. ~Edgar Allan Poe

- I suppose everybody knows who is considered to be the creator of the Universe. It is God, of course. Sarah Flower Adams devoted her poem to Him. And Dasha Timofeeva, the student of group 33, wants to recite the poem “He Sendeth Sun, He Sendeth Shower”. Dasha, you are welcome!

- Thank you very much, Dasha! It was exciting! You know that poems and music are always together (hand-in-hand with one another, so to say) and now we would like Maksim Sokolov, the student of group 25 to sing the song about beautiful life.

- Thanks a lot! It was marvellous, great, super! It was a very pleasant to listen to your voice.

АС: - Life is a very serious thing but at the same time it is really interesting. And now we are going to listen to the poem that is called “Life, believe, it’s not a dream” by Charlotte Brontë, an English poet. And a student of group 12 Sharipova Irina has prepared it for you. Irina you’re welcome!

НМ: - Thank you very much!

АС: - There is one more poem about life. “I dream’d I lay”. It was written by Robert Burns, a Scottish poet. Elena Lukyanova, the student of group 33, will recite it.

- Thank you, Lena! Long time ago there was an English poet, painter, and printmaker. Largely unrecognised during his lifetime, William Blake is now considered an important figure in the history of the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age. His literary masterpiece “Songs of Innocence and Experience” holds an important place in the history of Western visual arts. And today the student of group 48 Klimov Bogdan will present one of these works to us!

- Thank you! This is the end… It’s not actually! It’s just the first line of the beautiful song of Adele that has a very deep meaning. So, shall we just listen to it? Please meet Telnova Alisa, the student of group 18, with the song Skyfall.

НМ: - It was wonderful, Alice. Thank you very much. Each person is so individual. Somebody can climb the mountains, someone can study mathematics or can make music or write poems. So, Karina Sisilyakina, the student of group 33, can recite the poem by John Edwards that is called “Me”.

АС: - Thank you, Karina! The next poem we are going to listen to today was written by the poet of the American revolution Philip Freneau, this poem is about a soldier and his frustration after the end of the war. Let’s listen to the student of group 13, Yakovleva Elina.

НМ: - It was great, Elina. It is impossible to imagine our life without love. Love is the main part of our life. A lot of poems are devoted to love. Everybody knows the name of George Byron. It goes without saying, you know the name of Vladimir Vysotsky. Now the girls from group 23 will recite his poem “Ballad about love”. Anna Motorina and Elena Hisamova.

- Thank you very much, Yana.

АС: - We’ve heard so many pieces of art about love, but speaking about love, how can we forget about such thing as friendship? It’s necessary to say some words about someone who is always near us to help, to support and to cheer up in difficult times, so I am glad to invite the student of the 25, Grebenshikova Daria, with the poem “Be a Friend”.

НМ: - Thank you. And now William Shakespeare’s sonnets. You know that he is one of the greatest English poet who wrote very many psycholosophical poems, for example “To be or not to be” or “All the world is a stage”. But he is well-known for his sonnets. And now we will listen to them.

АС: - Thank you very much indeed! It is always very pleasant to listen to the works of such great English authors. But there are some talented people who wrote a lot of poems in other different languages Spanish, for example. Angelica Kling, a student of group 48, has prepared one in Spanish and we are ready to listen to her.

- Thank you, Angelica! There is one more student who is ready with a foreign poem, but unfortunately she didn’t have a chance to be here today. That’s why we’re going to listen to her in the digital format. Please, look at the screen. Marina Karmalinzeva with a poem in Esperanto.

- And, of course, my friends we can’t forget about such French writer, poet as Antoine de Saint-Exupery who is best remembered for his novella “The Little Prince” (or as French people say “Le Petit Prince”). So, let’s welcome Istomina Valeria and Martynova Polina, students of group 23 and 22, with a piece of this work in French!

НМ: - Our party is coming to the end. We want to thank all the students and to say: “You are very talented. We wish you luck. Be happy and continue to learn the poems by heart. In conclusion we want you to listen to the girls of group 25. The song is called “Once upon a December”.
