What do I find to be the most difficult aspect of student teaching?
What do I find to be the most difficult aspect of student teaching? I think the most difficult thing is teaching unteachable students who have no desire for learning. Some of my student not motivated. No doubt I face hard issues during my teaching career but I can’t generalize these because these are mostly of individual nature. Some students don’t understand times (Past, Perfect and Future) because grammar rules vary of Russian grammar rules. Some of my students can’t understand the English Alphabet as how one letter has some different sounds. My students had no problem learning the alphabet itself, but when they should have used it, they were making a lot of mistakes. Perhaps because it is difficult to find interesting and age-appropriate activities, learning how to say and recognize the alphabet tends to be restricted to young learners and a page or two for low-level adults. However, I find that even quite high-level students can have problems pronouncing and understanding the alphabet, especially in fast speech.
The next difficult part of student teaching is the limited contact hours with students within one class period (or day). When I teach, I have so much information that I would like to impart to my students that time flies by too fast.
I taught English to students of different ages: from 7 y.o. and even up to 17 y.o. There is always lots of fun at my lessons: we sing and listen to various songs, watch interesting videos and play games. I know how to collaborate with my students, motivate them to study, keep their attention and have a good rapport with them.
As for teaching children aged 10-14 is very interesting for me because all brain functions are rapidly developing. That is why that period is very good for study and acquiring practical skills. At the aged 15-17 teenagers are connected with others on hobbies, common interests or just talking. Personal qualities start to become more important than the progress at school.
In conclusion every child is unique and therefore, each child has a distinct way of learning and communicating and I always trying to improve my teaching skills visiting various seminars or reading books of Psychology. I wanted to teach to make a positive difference on the future of children. In my opinion, it is fulfilling challenge: stimulating the next generation to become lifelong learners.
