Why it’s important to explore space?

Many people don’t understand why it’s important to explore space. Why do we need to spend billions of dollars when we can improve our life on the Earth? But not all people think so. It’s not only my opinion and I can prove it. One interesting story will help me to prove it.

Some centuries ago one Earl lived in Germany. He was very generous and gave a part of his earnings to poor people. It was at the time of Middle Ages when poverty and plague epidemics devastated the country. One day Earl met a strange man. This man had a small workshop near his house where he polished lenses from pieces of glass, inserted lenses into the tubes and looked through them on tiny objects. Earl liked looking at the tiny creatures which he could see with a big zoom. He suggested a strange man to live in his castle and spend all his time on improvement of the invention. Townspeople were very angry when they heard about this. They thought that it was meaningless to spend money on a silly hobby while people were dying because of poverty and plague. But the Earl was not mistaken spending money for improvement of the invention. Microscope was created due to the strange man’s invention. It contributed to medical progress, liquidation of plague and other diseases.

This story proves that people are often wrong, rejecting things which they don’t know.  

There are a lot of reasons due to which we should explore space. People need to explore space, because population of the planet grows every year, natural recourses are shortening.  The more people are on the planet the more damage we bring to it, without noticing that. To solve this problem we need to discover other planets where people can live. But there are no planets which are suitable for our life in solar system. That’s why we have to discover planets in other galaxies. It will take hundreds of years. Many people think that it’s almost impossible.

Our ancestors thought that it was impossible to find new continents, countries, seas and oceans. It took a lot of time to learn, what form the Earth is, how many continents on the planet there are and so on. Also search for new planets and galaxies will take an enormous amount of our time.

Also a lot of people believe in life on the other planets, aliens etc. Unfortunately nobody has seen them, even astronauts. I suppose we can’t communicate with them, because we don’t have enough knowledge about space. But I think people will soon solve this problem, because engineers, scientists and astronauts work hard every day.  

Another important issue of space exploration involves many dangerous diseases. Most of them are not treated nowadays. May be it’s because there are no necessary bacteria and substances on our planet.

I believe we should explore space not only because of the medicine and aliens. I think it’s interesting to know what happens in our solar system and our planet as well.
